I was surprised by the size of the restaurant, being from out of town but was impressed with the quality of service and food as well. Our server was great and made good recommendations.
We decided to make St. George our pit-stop for the night before we head back home to the OC after attending a family reunion in Heber. Our group pretty much occupied one station, after getting all settled and ordering what we want, our Chef du jour arrived with his accoutrements and weapons of masterful food preparation, he was very entertaining and the food was seasoned and cooked nicely. We all enjoyed watching him prepare and have fun preparing and cooking our meals - it was such a treat! Sakura will very much remind you of Benihana but in my honest opinion the cook station is pretty much where the similarities come and end. The restaurant from the moment you walk towards the imposing front door, the lovely foyer with the aquarium divider and the digital interactive floor already gives a wow factor, the staff donned in colorful Japanese inspired Kimonos are nice to see as well, truly in-keeping with the restaurant's theme. With great food, lovely ambiance and good service, I honestly think there's a lot going for Sakura and I hope they keep up with it. Arigato Gozaimsu! Kampai!
The ladies at the front were very kind and accommodating to the guy with the Wolverine Tshirt that arrived shortly before closing. The changes to the St George and the Yum Yum , were ON POINT. Geisha was yummy too. Btw, yes, I ate it all! And you provided plenty of Wasabi and soy, and my Salad! Thanks sooo much! Cali Wolverine geek
Our recent visit to this St. George gem was nothing short of delightful. Dining in their private room was a special treat, with exceptional dishes like the Teriyaki Salmon and Teriyaki Noodles with Chicken. Our second visit was even more memorable as we tried the hibachi with our grandchildren. The fun digital floor kept the kids entertained, while the impeccable service, entertaining chef, and attentive waiter made the experience truly enjoyable. On our first visit, we explored the dine-in lunch options, including the buta bara kushi (skewered pork belly) topped with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds. The flavors were outstanding, and the balance between meat and fat was perfect. The cucumber sunomono salad was also delicious and refreshing. For the best experience, visit right when they open to avoid the crowds. We can't wait to try more of their dishes. Thanks to the team for consistently delivering top-quality food and excellent service. Don't miss this must-visit restaurant!
Outstanding and authentic food and service - fresh - beautifully presented, large portions. Inside is immaculate and beautifully decorated in a style that harkens back to old Edo (Samurai armor in the lobby), beautiful fish tank in the separating wall of the restaurant, exquisite balance of old and new creates a fusion of form that delights the eye. For the youth, in the lobby they have a digital floor with touch sensitive interactivity that features cute Coi fish and other aquatic life. The greeters and servers are dressed in kimonos and are very welcoming. The sushi cutters, bussers, servers, and the rest of the staff are all very thoughtfully arrayed and they are very attentive. The manager circulates among the guests and staff and makes sure things are going just exactly right, and takes action anywhere it's needed to assure the perfect experience. It's great that you can sit on the sushi side of the restaurant or the hibachi side, but still get whatever you want. For example, I ate almost exclusively sushi, but the rest of my party enjoyed the hibachi grill and we were all seated together. I didn't get so much as a look or a comment from any restaurant personnel suggesting that my choice to eat sushi at the hibachi table was wasting their space or an inconvenience for them in any way. 100% of each menu item surpassed expectations. But one particular dish merits comment: the hamachi belly was incredible. If you enjoy raw Japanese seafood, you MUST try it! We got here a little early on the two days that we came here in order to avoid the crowds that people mentioned on Yelp. It's worth it to get here early. The waiting area is always packed when we leave an hour after opening time. Do yourself, your guests; family, or date a favor and treat them to this most exquisite legit Japanese restaurant!! どうもありがとうございます
We went to St George to visit our friends and went to Sakura for a late lunch. The building is beautiful with nice decor on the outside, they really embrace the Japanese feel. We were greeted right away when we entered and we were seated immediately. They gave us our own little both and a cozy table which was nice and private. Our waiter was prompt and got everything we needed in a timely manner. The apps and food were very tasty and we really enjoyed our meal. The over experience was good and we'd definitely go back for some more.
This is one of the other few restaurants I enjoy dining at in St George. The location is beautiful outside. Water displays, traditional statues, and cherry blossom trees line the entrance. Inside is fairly clean at the hibachi tables. There have been a few times I noticed food on the floor from the chefs throwing food at the customers mouths but not a big deal. Dont take away that fun part! The meat is consistently good. The fried rice and noodles are a bit hit or miss though. Also, your experience is really different depending on the chef that cooks for you. Some of the chefs really get into it with knife flips, music, infamous volcano show, and shrimp tosses. While other chefs simply cook your food and throw in a few jokes. I enjoy that they serve alcohol. I usually get a glass of Plum wine but would like to try one of the specialty cocktails. The price is very resonable for what youre getting with hibachi. I wish they had the creamy sauce like other restaurants with hibachi. Salad, soup, a side, and choice of protein is part of the dinner or lunch combinations. They also have one of those robots that delivers food to the tables and plays music, or happy birthday. My girls like to see that.
This is my favorite hibachi restaurants in St.George Utah. The food is amazing, the show is better than your average hibachi location. This is a must visit. Our group was 16 people and we were seated within 45 minutes. No reservations were accepted. You will not regret coming here, this is my 3rd time and will continue coming back.
